The American Birding Association
If it's about birding, it involves ABA |
|
ABA is the organization of North American birders. Its mission is to bring all the excitement, challenge, and wonder of birds and birding to everyone. |
|
|
 |
The nonprofit ABA supports the interests of birders of all ages by:
- Promoting field birding skills through meetings,workshops
publications, equipment, and guided involvement in birding;
- Developing and distributing information about birds, birders, and birding;
- Promoting national and international networks.
|
|
ABA actively promotes the economic and environmental values of birding. ABA leverages its effectiveness through coalitions such as Partners in Flight, the National Watchable Wildlife Committee, and in partnership with the Thanksgiving Coffee Company the Song Bird Coffee project. A letter to members regarding Song Bird reported:
" We believe birders can make a powerful impact
on the way coffee is grown. We believe that shade
grown coffee can help restore migratory songbird
habitat in Central America. We have co-partnered
this project [Song Bird Coffee] with a 25-year-old company [Thanksgiving Coffee] with
exceptional environmental credentials. Together,
we can verify that Song Bird Coffees come from
farms that grow their coffee in the shade, under
forest canopy that provides great habitat for birds." |
